As a devoted fan of innovative coffee creations, I eagerly anticipate each new offering from my favorite café. While I can’t sample every item on the menu, I make it a point to try all the cold foam flavors and various coffee-based drinks. Recently, I indulged in a delightful Horchata Shaken Espresso, and I couldn’t resist stopping by to try the Iced Cherry Chai Latte on its release day.
That’s why I was thrilled to attend a recent coffee convention in Las Vegas, where I had the opportunity to taste some upcoming menu items that will soon be available in cafés. One standout item was the Brown Sugar Strato Frappuccino, which has been announced but will officially debut in July. After a few sips and stirs, I have some exciting insights to share!
Understanding the Strato Frappuccino
The term “strato” translates to “layer” in Italian, hinting at the unique structure of this Frappuccino. Unlike the traditional whipped cream topping, Strato Frappuccinos feature a layer of cold foam atop the classic blended beverage. This creative twist was inspired by customer preferences, as adding cold foam to drinks like cold brews and iced lattes has become a popular trend.
In July, coffee lovers can look forward to three official Strato Frappuccinos: the Brown Sugar Strato Frappuccino, the Strawberry Matcha Strato Frappuccino, and the Salted Caramel Mocha Strato Frappuccino.
Are Strato Frappuccinos Worth the Hype?

While I didn’t have the chance to sample all the new layered Frappuccinos, I thoroughly enjoyed the Brown Sugar Strato Frappuccino. This delightful drink combines a coffee Frappuccino with a layer of brown sugar cold foam, finished with a sprinkle of cinnamon.
It’s been years since I last ordered a Frappuccino, as I try to keep my morning sugar intake in check. However, my love for these cold blended beverages remains strong. With my first sip, I was reminded of the refreshing icy texture and rich coffee flavor. I was already a fan of the cold foam, but I was pleasantly surprised by how well the creamy, velvety foam complemented the icy Frappuccino. The drink was bursting with brown sugar flavor, even after mixing in the cold foam.
If you’re a fan of cold foam and looking for a more indulgent option than a cold brew or iced latte, the Strato Frappuccino is definitely worth a try!
When Will the Brown Sugar Strato Frappuccino Be Available?
While an official launch date has yet to be announced, we can expect these delicious drinks to hit the menu in July. In the meantime, why not experiment with layering your favorite cold foams on top of your go-to Frappuccinos? For instance, a mocha Frappuccino topped with cherry cold foam could evoke the flavors of a decadent black forest cake. Alternatively, a strawberry Frappuccino with horchata cold foam would be a delightful treat!
