In the fast-food industry, some chains are known for their adventurous spirit, frequently introducing new items to keep their menu fresh and exciting. Others, however, prefer to stick with their classic offerings. One such chain, known for its long-standing history, has recently made a surprising announcement: the introduction of a new permanent menu item after a three-year hiatus—the Crispy Chicken Slider.
Introducing the Crispy Chicken Slider
The Crispy Chicken Slider is a clear indication that the competition in the fast-food fried chicken sandwich arena is still heating up. This year alone, several major chains have launched new chicken offerings, including a notable addition from a popular burger chain and a unique pickle-glazed sandwich from another well-known establishment.
This new chicken slider comes in two variations. The standard version features a crispy buttermilk-breaded chicken patty drizzled with a zesty honeycomb sauce, all nestled within the chain’s signature soft bun, priced at $2.39. For just 20 cents more, customers can opt for the Deluxe version, which includes the honeycomb sauce along with a slice of American cheese, lettuce, and tomato.
How Does the Crispy Chicken Slider Taste?
As a fan of chicken sandwiches, I was eager to try this new offering. My go-to fast-food chicken sandwich has always been from a well-known competitor, so I was curious to see how this slider would measure up. I made my way to the nearest location and ordered the Crispy Chicken Combo, which includes two sliders, fries, and a drink.
To be honest, I couldn’t recall if I had ever tried the original chicken slider from this chain. In the past, when craving chicken, I usually opted for their Chicken Ring Slider. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the new Crispy Chicken Slider, even without a direct comparison.
Although I intended to try the Deluxe version, the location I visited was out of lettuce and tomatoes. Instead, I received the standard Crispy Chicken Slider topped with honeycomb sauce and a slice of American cheese.
The slider was delightful and brought back fond memories, especially considering its price of $2.59 for the Deluxe version. The honeycomb sauce truly shone, with its sweet and tangy flavor complementing the thick, crispy chicken patty perfectly. The contrast between the crunchy patty and the soft bun was also enjoyable. While the addition of fresh lettuce and tomato would have enhanced the experience, I found little to criticize.
When comparing the Crispy Chicken Slider to other fast-food chicken sandwiches, I believe it stands as a strong contender against popular options. I would certainly order it again, although I hope the chain can improve its fries, which were somewhat soggy and had an odd aftertaste. Overall, the new slider is a hit—perhaps consider pairing it with onion rings or mozzarella sticks for a more satisfying meal.
